"Taxes are Everyone's Business"

With the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act on August 17, 2022, there are a LOT of changes for 2022 taxes and beyond. In addition, many of the one-time COVID related credits and deductions are now gone for 2022 taxes. Taxes are never simple!

In this workshop, Judi will review the key elements of the tax code effective for 2022 taxes (from the huge changes from the 2017 tax law and the smaller more recent changes). - both for the IRS and IL - as well as the increasingly complex rules for sales of stock and mutual funds and Form 8949 as well as the revised Schedule D. She will also discuss important deductions such as mortgage interest and real estate taxes - and common tax problems, including education credits and deductions, withdrawals from 529 plans, child credits and childcare credits, K-1s from Trusts, and Estates, and how to figure your withholding. She will focus on tax issues many of us have including CP notices from the IRS and why/whether to do it yourself or seek a professional for advice. There will be, as always, time for your questions.
